Ikimonogakari

For today's topic, I will introduce a popular band in Japan, Ikimonogakari. I think everyone in Japan knows this band..

Ikimonogakari has three members. This band's name means "animal handler" in English. They said the reason why they chose this name was because they had all been assigned to be ikimonogakari when they were in primary school.

Ikimonogakari made their debut in 1999.  They are lead singer Kiyoe Yoshioka, acoustic guitarist Hotaka Yamashita, and electric guitarist Yoshiki Mizuno. This band doesn't have a regular bassist, but they have a supporting bassist, Takashi Adachi. There are supporting members elsewhere.

Ikimonogakari got the 52nd Japan Record Award. It is a major music awards show annually in Japan. They won many prize elsewhere too. And their songs are used much in theme songs and as commercial message songs. Please check their songs!
